Non-Discrimination Policy

At Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where individuals of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities are valued and respected. Discrimination in any form is antithetical to our mission and values. As such, we have adopted the following non-discrimination policy:

    • Equal Opportunity: We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or any other protected status under applicable federal, state, or local laws.

    • Workplace Environment: We are dedicated to maintaining a work environment free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Discriminatory behavior, including but not limited to derogatory remarks, jokes, gestures, or any other form of offensive conduct, will not be tolerated.

    • Accessibility: We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to employees and applicants with disabilities to ensure equal access to employment opportunities, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the operation of our organization.

    • Recruitment and Hiring: Our recruitment and hiring processes are conducted in a fair and impartial manner, with decisions based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. We do not engage in discriminatory practices during any phase of the employment process.

    • Training and Awareness: We provide training and educational opportunities to employees to promote awareness and understanding of diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination. This includes training on how to identify and address instances of discrimination or harassment in the workplace.

    • Client Services: We ensure that our services are accessible to individuals of all abilities, including those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. We strive to provide accommodations and support to ensure that all clients receive the assistance they need to fully participate in our programs and services.

    • Complaint Procedure: We have established a procedure for reporting complaints of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. Employees who believe they have been subjected to such conduct or who have witnessed such conduct are encouraged to report it promptly to management or the designated HR representative. All complaints will be promptly and thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken to address and remedy any violations of this policy.

    • Non-Retaliation: We prohibit retaliation against any individual who reports or participates in the investigation of a complaint of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. Retaliation against any individual for engaging in protected activity is a violation of this policy and will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center is committed to upholding this non-discrimination policy and ensuring that all individuals are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. We continually strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to our mission.
